Having survived 2 dengue fevers, I feel it is the right time to educate myself and my readers how not to get dengue fever.

The second time I had dengue fever, when I finally went to hospital, my bloodplate count was 15, where it should be at least above 100. In normal English: if I had waited one day longer, I would most likely have died due to internal bleeding.

There is no cure for dengue fever, but it is possible to make sure:

• you don’t get bitten by aedes mosquitoes
• you reach the hospital before internal bleedings start
